The most popular places in Palawan island were the subterranean river also known as the underground river in Puerto Princesa, the limestone cliffs in El Nido, or island hopping in the surrounding islands . All in all, the attractions and other tourist destinations in the Province of Palawan can give you relaxation, thrills, adventure and a unique one.
Dumaran, is one of the municipalities in the province of Palawan. The Municipality has 7 islands including the town center (this is definitely good for island hopping) and 16 barangays on the mainland. It is also a home of red-vented cockatoo locally known as “Katala” or “Kalabukay”, an endangered species of birds that was successfully preserved in the area. As a celebration for this, the Katala Foundation and the local government of Dumaran, invented the Kalabukay Festival way back in 2005 which is celebrated along with the Founding day of the municipality and takes place annually from June 14 to 16. During the festival, the government has various activities such as sports, pageant, singing competition and others. The Festival promotes the conservation of the red-vented cockatoo, as well as the attractions and culture.
Aside from the festivals, there are places that you shouldn't miss to visit like the Calambuan Island, Renambakan Island, Maruyog-ruyog Island, Ilian Falls, Banawa Sand Bar, Maraneg Beach, and the mountain peak in Mt. Turing.
There’s no place like seeing the bird’s eye view! The Mt. Turing peak is located in Poblacion, Dumaran. Uphill, you can also see the town, the island's, and the mountain forest. The cold fresh air will surround you and the sounds of the birds will give you different kinds of happiness.
These islands will give you the ultimate white-sand bars, crystal-clear waters, and not to mention the palm trees. On these islands, you can enjoy swimming under the glimmering sun, or snorkeling. Aside from these three, there are also other islands that can be visited, explored and enjoyed!
The Ilian Falls
Dumaran has a waterfall! The Ilian Falls is located in Barangay Ilian, and was named after where it is situated. The waterfall is captivating. The big amount of water dripping from the top is alluring, and the forest that circles into the area feels so captivating. You can soak yourself into the cold-iced water and refresh your mind with the breeze. Aside from the peak view in Mt. Turing, you can also go up to the mountain where the waterfall is located and get a full view from the top.
In the mainland, there are also several beaches and resorts that might be a great place to stay. Still, on the seashores the abundant marine life, white sand bar, and scenic sunsets. Simple as it seems but the place is naturally awesome.
