The Land of Transportation Office (LTO) is a government agency in the Philippines under the Department of Transportation (DoT) along with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
The LTO is responsible for registering and inspecting the motor vehicles, issuance of driver's license and permits, the enforcement of land and transportation of rules and regulations, and adjudication of traffic cases.
Getting a vehicle permit and driver's license is quite hard these days especially if the office is out of town. Traveling will be occupying time and arriving in the place earlier is a must. Government offices are expected to be busy and full of applicants.
As the pandemic strikes in the country, the offices have been optioned to minimize the service for the meantime and have left workloads for the staffs and results on more renewals. Along with the unprocessed records and applications to cope up, they also have to manage hundreds of people everyday that apply for student's permits, driver's license and renewals, arrangements of the traffic violations and others. If this branch office will be opened, this will give the people at ease on processing their transactions in LTO as well as the personnels.
Recently, Sanguaniang Bayan Member Bernardo "Ton" Abengoza shared that the Office of Land Transportation in Brooke's Point will soon serve the public. He shared some photos in the media, showing the office on it's final touches.
Abengoza said in his interview that "Land Transportation Office (LTO) is on its finishing touches after the installation of satellite systems (complaint to LTO internet speed) for its exclusive use."
He also said that they are waiting for the LTO technical support to come and install the system so they can proceed in dry run and the inauguration.
Administrative Officer of the Local Government l, Loida Paalan said in an interview that they are only waiting for the final schedule for the inauguration and Hilarion E. Ulep, CESO III and Regional Director ng LTO's arrival.
In Palawan Island, only the District Office that is located in Puerto Princesa are currently serving the whole island. Due to the demand and overcrowding, they opened an extension office in Robinsons Place that is also located in Puerto Princesa but then, even with two offices it is still not enough. Recently, they announced that they are now open for online transactions and inquiries.
This is a big step forward to help the people on the mountain barangays and the nearby municipalities to be able to attend training, apply for driver's licenses and get vehicle permissions. This will also ensure that the drivers on the roads have sufficient knowledge in the rules and regulations that are strictly implemented and this will also decrease the chances of violators and avoid road accidents.any are hoping for the opening of the office of LTO in Brooke's Point in Palawan.
