The battle for the Coronavirus disease is not over yet. The virus has spread in the world widely and has affected everyone.
The quarantine in the Philippines started in March last year, after a Chinese tourist has been positive of the disease and it's continuing to develop until today.
"When will this disease disappear?" is one of the questions we have in our minds, but the answer for this question is how we react to the virus. Our reaction towards the virus will lead us to the better or worst scenarios.
The precautionary measures are given and implemented by the government to decrease the numbers of cases. The health workers, uniformed personnels have taken the risks to strictly apply and take control for the safer community.
After months of testing and studying the disease, it has been discovered that the polymerase chain reaction (RT PCR) test can detect the virus. This method is primarily used to determine the numbers of the Ribonucleic acid (RNA), the most accurate laboratory method to detect and study the coronavirus.
During the Balayong Festival on March 4, 2021 the projects in Puerto Princesa are inaugurated and one of them is the Molecular Laboratory. The construction of the project facility costs P26 million.
Doctor Ric Pang, City Health Officer said that the facility is located at the New City Health Complex in Barangay Sta. Monica, can accommodate 500 tests per day and can also accept swab testings.
He said that the medical technicians that will be assigned to the Infectious Diseases Molecular Laboratory for the COVID19 testing are still completing the training. After the completion, they will have a license to operate the facility from the Department of Health (DOH).
There is equipment and other materials already in the facility. But as the electricity was only temporarily tapped, they are still processing it to be connected in direct current.
Dr. Panganiban said " Puwede nang makapag-test ng RT PCR yong mga involved standard sa pag diagnose ng COVID katulad ng ginagawa sa ibang lugar. Yong swab test doon na sya ira-run."
This Molecular Facility is an important factor to be installed, this will determine the current status, and updated numbers of cases. This will minimize the laboratory test passed on the other hospitals and results will be determined faster than the usual. This will also clarify if the city is capable of welcoming more tourists.
Puerto Princesa is an independent city that lies in the island of Palawan and one of the areas that has attractive spots for tourists. The government recently announced that they are now open for visitors. As they are already accepting tourists to enjoy and explore the city, the local government prepares for the health protocols and implementation to continually give safety for everyone. By having this laboratory facility, the tests will be examined within the city aside from hospitals.
