
Tourism is one of the major industries in Palawan. The heritage sites, beautiful beaches, and stunning islands attract international and domestic travelers to the island. After the opening of several tourist sites on the island and other amenities, countless tourists came over to enjoy and relax on beaches. As the tourist began to visit the places, the government also ensured that the health protocols were followed and have travel documents. The government of Palawan also ensures that the tourist and residents will be given medical attention and services in hospitals.
To prepare the hospitals for dealing with accidents on roads, they need several ambulances to help them travel fast to provide first aid to accident victims, check the status of the patient during the transfer, or to get the patient from their homes to go to the hospitals.
An ambulance is as essential as a hospital. Sometimes, the need for an ambulance simultaneously happens, which could affect people’s death and life. It is a concern of all the patients and hospitals.
The Department of Health (DOH) has funded these ambulance vehicles to help the person in need. As well as reach the hospitals in the province of Palawan and support them to battle against health cases amid this pandemic.
The turnover ceremony of the ambulance has been spearheaded by the 3rd District Office of Rep. Gil Acosta Jr. and was received by the City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, for the City of Puerto Princesa. The ambulance was forwarded to the Ospital Ng Palawan and accepted by Officer in Charge-Chief, Dr. Audie Cipriano.
The City Health Office of Puerto Princesa Chief Dr. Ric Panganiban was thankful for the DOH vehicle to aid them. In a statement, he said, “Malaki ang magiging pakinabang nito lalong-lalo na sa ating mga kababayan sa mga rural na barangay, lalo pa’t nagpapagawa tayo ng mga Enhanced Satellite Clinics, so most probably ay doon po natin ito mailalagay,”.
On the other hand, the Municipality of Aborlan received two ambulances that the vehicles will put on the Aborlan Medicare Hospital (AMH) and Aborlan Rural Health Unit (RHU). Palawan 3rd District Representative, Atty. Gil "Kabarangay, Jr." A. Acosta led the turnover ceremony. It was attended by the Municipal officials and other employees such as Mayor Celsa B. Adier and Vice Mayor Lito O. Tito. There are also SB members, Dr. Fidel V. Salazar, Dr. Stenely O. Manuel, and Barangay Chairpersons.
After the turnover ceremony, it has been ambulance has been blessed by Fr. Fr. Joseph Cacacha, and was witnessed by the DOH representative Dr. Peter Curameng and Provincial Board Member Al Rama.
These ambulances will be an addition to all the existing vehicles in the Ospital ng Palawan, Aborlan Medicare Hospital, and Aborlan Rural Health Unit to serve the patients in transferring or to rescue.
